Who reads out loud outside of school kids?

Unused skills become dull~ it is as simple as that. A little bit of boning up wouldn't bring someone up to speed to allow someone to read a book like Harry Potter out loud and sound good especially if you are not familiar with the names or terms from the series.

I bet you couldn't do it well, you might not sound as bad as Floyd but I bet you would be horrified to hear it played back to you~

It was never supposed to be aired like that.

We are in the 'WikiLeak' era, so no one is safe anymore.
Well even so it is still Floyd's fault for going there because someone is going to record something if it was embarrassing he is just too polarizing and somebody would try to cash in (for lack of a better term).

I get what he was trying to do but sometimes you got to know when to fold'em and this was one of those times for Floyd.

As I said before, I'm not the best public speaker, but I sure as hell wouldn't take 5 minutes to read a 10 second piece. If I was in the public eye I would make damn sure I could achieve a basic reading level.

And please, if you think reading is dull then I feel sorry for you.

I don't think reading is dull I read all the time I grew up reading Stephan King not Harry Potter though. I took my education seriously all the way through college so please don't talk to me like I don't value reading.

I don't value reading out loud, there is a difference. I could attempt to read out loud and if I had a kid I probably would be very good at reading out loud. I am super out of practice though, so I wouldn't even dream of trying to read out loud in a public setting

You do have a valid point. But Floyd really, really, really butchered it. Most would butcher a PSA or whatever too, but just not as bad as that.

Back in school, I HATED when teachers asked students to read aloud. My mind would blank out and wouldn't follow. It was really annoying to hear. But if they were speaking naturally, my mind had no issues with it.

Reading aloud just sounds very unnatural to me. And it's because it is unnatural! Haha. It also annoys me when I see speakers or anyone lecturing by reading off a sheet of paper they wrote. I hear the same unnaturalness in their speech.

I am not saying he didn't do bad, Floyd was terrible. Most would do better than Floyd no doubt but would still not sound good. It is kind of an odd talent as people can be natural at verbalizing the written word but with practice someone can be really good also. Who the hell really practices reading the written word though other than maybe politicians and performers.
