I made a joke about Floyd but I really don't care if he can or can't read.
He is a hell of a boxer..that's his gift.
I don't care if my auto mechanic can read. Just fix my damn car.
Don't care if plumber can read. Just fix the toilet.
Dont care if the female ****o star can read...just do your job.

Like I said, 9 years of schooling is enough to develop strong reading skills. I won't insult Floyd anymore than that.
And yes of course family background matters, environment, neighborhood all matters. Why do you think most ********** from the "hood" all sound like Floyd when trying to read? And I am a minority from the "hood", so I speak from firsthand experience.

All those problems you speak about are your problems or problems of a demographic that you belong to. Handle them, as men. Dont use your shortcomings to excuse a fully grown man/father born in the West for not being able to read.

Another thing, dropping out of 9th grade doesn't excuse you from not being able to read. By 9th grade I was actually bored of reading, and subsequently dropped out after that year. I went back in to college 4 years later after passing my GED without studying, I felt I struggled while taking it, but actually got 3100 out of 4000 points (2250 is passing) which is equal to about 3.6-3.7 GPA. English is the second language I learned. Floyd is American, born and raised and only has to deal with English.
Floyd's reading sounds like he barely attended school, 9 years of schooling is way more than enough years to develop strong reading skills. To be fair, Floyd was probably 100% focused in boxing and that's probably the only thing his family supported him in.
Floyd might have a problem like dyslexia or something.

People who can read can communicate with other nationalities arm simply with a dictionary that they can read.
They discover new things because they read books. They read and research to build on the good ideas
They can be president, or prime minister, an adventurer, or... anything they want to be. The possibilities are endless. Non-readers never experience these joys to the same extent.
They can teach their own children how to read and that is a source of endless joy for parents. Have you tried teaching your kids how to read?
Illiterate people are easier to manipulate and control. They cannot do their own research and thinking. They must rely on what they are told. Their emotions are easily swayed. This is one of the reasons why manipulative governments and dictators want their subjects uneducated.
As he's scanning this, Larry is probably contemplating apple-bottom booties and/or cheese. Or fighting 50 cent, TI and Nelly.

Not surprising that a professional boxer who has spent 90% of his life training in a gym isn't the best reader/scholar.
I bet most college kids nowadays who actually study and read books every day can't even read or comprehend what they're reading
