Comments Thread For: Matthew Macklin Returns 9/27 on Abraham-Smith Bill

BoxingScene.com understands that Matthew Macklin 30-5 (20KOs) will box on the undercard of Arthur Abraham’s WBO super middleweight defence against Paul Smith in Kiel, Germany on September 27 before returning to Dublin on November 15.

The three-time world title challenger had been set to face Jorge Sebastien Heiland in a WBC eliminator on August 30 in Dublin but the card was postponed after his trainer, Jamie Moore, was twice in the legs, in Marbella. The fight would have been his first fight under the Matchroom Sport promotional banner and a “homecoming” for the Englishman of Irish descent but will now take place a few months later than originally planned.

With all due respect but, why are there articles about Matthew Macklin every single week???? I might be exaggeratin but it seems that, due to his exposure on this forum, everything this guy does is relevant when in reality he poses no problems to any beltholder in his division nor is he an up and coming 'hungry lion'. Let's be honest none of GGG's past opponents have any relevance in the boxing game nor in their division, whether it's the 154, 160, or 168 division........ but then again that's what makes this website so great, real talk, i just like to bash on GGG's competition hahaha

Is Macklin sure he wants to be fighting a WBC eliminator? Golovkin is about to become the champion he'd have to face. I could see Macklin & Murray (WBC Silver champion) facing off before enforcing any mandatories.

Also, Curtis Stevens is about to fight a IBF eliminator, where Golovkin very well could be facing Soliman for the IBF title in Feb/Mar. I wonder how HBO would respond to Golovkin having to fight two guys in a row that he already beat? Does anyone know about the progress on the orgs making a Undisputed Champion for a weight class when a fighter holds atleast three of the titles? That would make Golovkin exempt from those mando's for the time being anyways.
