Thomas Stalker is set for his biggest test to date, as he faces Chris Jenkins in a matchup of unbeaten 140 lb. prospects on October 25 in Liverpool, England.
The scheduled 10-round bout has been sanctioned as a domestic title eliminator, with the winner to face defending titlist Willie Limond, presumably some time in the 1st quarter of 2015. A purse bid was won by promoter Frank Warren to secure the rights to the fight, which he has added to his loaded 'Magnificent Seven Fight Again' fight card.
Stalker (9-0, 2KOs) turned pro in 2013 following a stint as team captain for the 2012 Great Britain Olympic Boxing squad. His Olympic dream couldn't have landed in a more favorable setting, leading a team fighting at home in London. However, Stalker's run ended one fight short of qualifying for a medal, dropping a heartbreaking decision to Mongolia's Uranchimegiin Mönkh-Erdene in the quarterfinal round of competition.
Two years into his pro career, the unbeaten Brit now gets to pursue another lifelong goal.
"It’s always been a dream of mine to fight for the British title," said Stalker, who fights in his first scheduled 10-round bout.
