My thoughts after re watching Porter-Brook

Firstly I thought it was a great fight. I've heard people say it was boring or sloppy but i have to strongly disagree. What we saw was a very high level fight between two elite fighters that were very evenly matched.

This was a throwback fight. People have complained about holding and rabbit punches but the way I see it, Brook did what he felt was necessary and so did Porter. Neither fighter in my eyes was intentionally breaking any rules, it was just the way the fight went and if people don't realize that, they need to watch the all time great 15 rounders and see how Ray Robinson, Ali and even Duran fought, that's a huge part of boxing. Don't just watch the highlights, watch the whole 15 rounds.

As for Porter, I think we saw some of the best of him and I think he has a bright future. He showed the heart of a champion but maybe he just met that guy that has his number, a bit like the first Mosley-Forrest fight.

As for Brook, I think he showed amazing composure fighting in the states and I'd give him a chance against anyone in the division. His style is textbook boxing, he understands the fundamentals and that's enough to be a dangerous fight for anyone.

Lastly after re watching the fight, it wasn't that close, but it was definitely intense. Porter got taken to school by a better boxer and that's nothing to be ashamed of. Hopefully he learns from that and gets some good wins under his belt, I'd happily watch a rematch if that time comes....my only real disappointment is that I live close to the stub hub and I didn't go the fight but I'm glad to see great match ups back in California and respect to the two American judges, they got it right...

Anyway those are some of my thoughts after re watching what I believe was a great matchup between two of the best welterweights in their prime, boxing needs more of these nights.
