7k attendance and 660k viewers is respectable.

The TV numbers are a little weak but for two guys that have never headlined before it's not bad. If the hardcore fans barely knew who Brook was it wasn't going to bode well for the casuals knowing him.

The 7k attendance is better then expected, it looked pretty dead early on but must have filled up a bit for the main event. Chavez jr did 5,200 when he fought Brandon Vera and he's supposed to be some big draw.

The TV ratings overall have been down this year for both networks, it's safe to say it's a boxing recession year.

Unless you're a pretty big star, black fighters vs black fighters usually doesn't register huge ratings these days. They have to mix up the races because then you can double your fan base. They should have had a popular Mexican fighter as the co-feature could have improved.

In addition to that, Brook is British and not very well known.

I didn't think Kell would even be there and I never considered him winning. His poke and grab style never excited me, but Porter is just too short, Kell wasn't scared. Kell is in the Captain's chair now, but he still needs a good name opponent, without he can't draw. Few viewers watched him win and Khan will only sell in the UK and only once.

[QUOTE=teddycanyon;14869929]yeah not surprising. There just aren't enough real fans of this sport anymore.[/Qth

there are real fans of this sport, but come one when you start watching holding like that and rushing in with your head and just awful tactics it turns you away, even the real fans, just imagine the casual ones probably changed the channel after the first two rounds,,i have a feeling khan/brook will be all talk by both fighters and come time to fight they will just be hugging each other, remember that

American networks will pick that one up.

I don't think they need to overly consider the American audience for that fight.

It is a stadium fight and PPV fight in the UK - so it big money for both fighters.

Garcia-Salka got more ratings than Brook-Porter for the same reason that Big Brother will get more ratings than Question Time.

                A generation of morons

Sadly this doesn't surprise me. I like Brook but he's missed some opportunities with Alexander and not been active enough (Khan's worse).

I can't see the two of them filling Wembley like Froc-Groves, wishful thinking I reckon. Froch-Groves 1 didn't have a huge crowd it took an epic fight to fill a stadium in a rematch.

This is very true, black boxing fans are few and far in between.

And the ones that are still around are fair weather fans, we saw how quick they jumped off the broner bandwagon, they'll do the same when Floyd loses too.

You would think the better fights would have more viewers.
Regardless both events should of had more views.
