Comments Thread For: Maidana: Mayweather's Power Respectable, Broner Better

Marcos Maidana (35-4, 32KOs) has felt a lot of power punches during his career. He says the punching power of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) is "respectable" and he can't be taken for granted.

At the same time, Maidana stands firm on his opinion that last December's opponent, Adrien Broner, was a hard puncher and physically stronger.

Floyd rarely commits to punches anymore out of fear of injuring his hands. It also looked to me like he wore 10 oz gloves as opposed to the usual 8 oz ones for a welterweight fight. Floyd also came in light so his punches must've felt like nothing to Maidana.

Floyd's whole gameplan for the Maidana fight was ******. He came in light, didn't move much, didn't throw much, and wore huge azz gloves. I don't know what he was thinking.

Coward? So is it a catch 22 with you? He fights MM, he's a coward, and if he doesnt, he is a coward? I am hopeful that you are not attempting to dredge up Pac, because we would be here all day pointing fingers, so lets stick to this fight/topic ONLY.

According to Mosley who fought Canelo and Floyd, they have the same power.... So the light WW Broner hits harder than Canelo the MW...
Or Maidana just playes some pre fight mind games...

Ricky Hatton wanted no part of Floyd in 2005 and if they fought just two years later its not a "duck." Margarito got exposed as a cheater. Cotto was still younger than Floyd was and had fewer fights (Cotto getting his azz whooped by Pacquaio has nothing to do with Floyd.) And I wonder what your excuses wil be if and when Floyd does beat Pac. Let me guess "Manny was passed it."

                    mayweather hatton 2005... http://www.theguardian.com/sport/200...ng.rickyhatton

Even though margarito got exposed as a cheater, cotto and others still fought him.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_BWElcszSY

maywether retired after the ricky hatton fight, while cotto was 33-0, just beat mosley a month before the floyd-hatton fight, then floyd "retires". Cotto was the second best welterweight behind floyd at that moment in time. Then cotto lost to margarito and margarito lost to mosley. That jumped mosley up to the number 3 p4p rankings and second best welterweight when floyd came back out of his "retirement".
