I think that being able to continue in a fight while having a broken nose and/or jaw doesn't come down to pain, I think it really comes down to ability. If you have a broken jaw that's hurting a lot but is not affecting your ability to go on then most fighters will keep going until they get stopped even if it ends their career. But if you have a broken nose that's not allowing you to breath, then it's not really going to be up to the fighter because he's simply not going to be able to keep fighting and instead be forced to stop.

Both injuries can be different levels of painful depending on the severity of the break but the one that's more likely to be serious and have long term effects is definitely the jaw.

Good shout, I've had my nose broken 3 times and it only really registers the first time, after that you know what to expect and its more of an annoyance. The jaw contains a lot of muscles and soft tissue, which would hurt more I think.

Any broken bone will cause discomfort/shock, which will only get worse the more its hit, so I can see why some would fold with a broken nose.

Seriously though, a broken femur would be way worse than both, and a kidney stone would be worse still.

Being hit **** on the nose can hurt (got a carl froch style beak here) and your damn eyes water even when it doesn't. I've heard instances of fighters struggling to recover during the fight from a broken nose. But a broken jaw would probably be the worse injury by far. Guys like Marquez or vinny pazienza have broken their noses during fights a dew times but carried on regardless. A broken jaw is much more serious and requires much more treatment. It can lay off a fighter much longer than a nose injury and like a poster above said you wouldn't want to be sipping your food for a few weeks. I'd take a broken nose over a broken any day.

sure mauybe if you've got a tiny littl;e crack in your jaw, and you're comparing it to a completely smashed nose, it's the broken nose that will hurt more, but in general it's obviously a broken jaw.
