You know what. MM is right about the jab. Floyd also gives you his body. He is hittable to the body and to the head. You have to have a good jab, work-rate, stamina, and brain to have a chance to beat him. MM is intelligent but doesn't have the skill to beat Floyd, BUT Floyd is aging and no matter what adjustments he makes, it'll be a competitive fight. Floyd avoids highly skilled fighters for a reason. He is a great fighter but he's overrated. If Oscar wasn't OLD when they fought, he would've outpointed Floyd. Prime Oscar at 147/154 beats him every time. Khan would be a good fight for Floyd and that's why he won't fight him. Manny would be a difficult fight for him and that's why it never happened. Floyd will only fight those who he knows he can beat. He knows MM cannot do any better and that's why the rematch is happening. Since when does he give rematches?

He had a difficult fight against an awkward opponent. I believe Floyd was shocked at how difficult and rough Maidana was, add to it a cut which he never experienced before made it a harder fight than he anticipated. Nobody was saying he was aging against Canelo. Even if his

physical attributes are diminishing, he's still far more intelligent and skillful than anybody he'll ever face in the ring in these last few fights.

I wonder if it will end like that myself. No one can beat father time and Mayweather looked human for once during their first fight. The real question is can Maidana match or exceed his first performance, he's not always consistent.

Wasn't too long ago that he was getting dropped and hurt in fights against Khan, Alexander, Morales and Lopez.......the Broner fight was the only time he looked dominant from start to finish.

Exactly , Alexander schooled him not long ago , he got dropped 4 times by Ortiz, who could have won that fight easy if he had more balls or more brains.

People call fighters bum after a defeat; see Matthysse , from world beater to bum in a few months, while he is a good fighter, albeit a bit limited.

I don't think Maidana is much different , Floyd didn't look good against him, but Maidana is what he's always been , no trainer can change a 30 years old so drastically.

He's a tough mofo , comes to fight , but is not this world beater.

This is true. But here is why it doesn't work or is abandoned.

Fraud Jr. gets in his opponents head before the fight as part of his gameplan. You see, he's great at avoiding the power punches and big shots as he's afraid of those landing most, but the jab in theory isn't much other than a punch to offset the opponent and setup your own power shots. So now if your just attempting power shots without the jab, you won't be able to land on Jr.

Now on the other than, the more jabs you throw and land, the more you can offset Mayweather and potentially land a bigger shot. To prevent this, Jr. tries to get into your head early or upset you to abandon your jab and go just for the power shots.

The mindset of an opponent when they are pissed or frustrated is to always throw power shots and generally not throw a thought to be weak shot in a jab.

So now you have opponents who are frustrated coming in without a jab on Jr. and he can easily avoid those power shots without the jab assist.

This is why Jr. fights opponents who are mentally not stable in their head. Easily frustrated opponents who he beats just from the press con when they are annoyed to death they just want to throw bombs at him on fight night.

Did Maidana land that many jabs?

Not a lot but it was effective and even Floyd acknowledged this. You're not going to land much of anything on Floyd. But it kept him occupied and stopped him from leaping in and even leaning in several other times.

Imo, thats where Maidana's jab should be going in the early rounds: chest, shoulders, stomach, etc...that should open up some holes in floyd's defense for some cleaner head shots down the stretch...gotta slow floyd down a tad

Maybe Floyd is just a superior boxer to all of his opponents. Maybe he has superior boxing skills, better physical tools and has FAR better boxing intelligence. It's that simple!!! All this gets in their head stuff and he picks guys who are not mentally stable stuff in non sense. Thus far he's been able to beat guys of all styles, mental make ups, sizes etc.. Quit with all the excuses. Everybody has tried everything and nothing has worked yet. Guys have had supposedly the best trainers in the game come up with all these strategies and none of them have proven success yet.

Believe Floyd is that good if you want to. What you said is true given his competition. Do you think that would work against Manny? Against GGG at 154lb? Huh? Do you? Because I don't. Do you think it would've worked against Martinez at 154lb when he was willing to drain himself to fight Floyd? Because I do not. Floyd is smart about who to fight and when to fight them, just like Hopkin's old ass. He is about to get beat up as well. Floyd is a great fighter. A highly skilled fighter BUT there are still questions to be answered but guess what? It's almost too late!!!!!!! He's old now and definitely won't take a risk before retirement. His "0" means everything to him.
