"Crawford didn't beat Gamboa because of athleticism"

Disagree, crawford frame and athleticism were the difference maker. His reach and his ability to take all of gamboas punches

      "Mayweather, Andre Ward, Bernard Hopkins"

I mentioned them to a reply on my thread here. They are the elite class of the past, hopkins should be retired and floyd is getting there--i don;t even know about andre ward lol

HELL NO you must have not watched the fight besides, you have being bigger confused with athleticism they are not the same thing. Crawford outsmarted the **** out of Gamboa besides being bigger and none of those 2 things have nothing to do with "athleticism" .

Crawford beat Gamboa using distance and counter punching. Not athleticism. Gamboa was the quicker, more explosive, more athletic fighter.

This is a managerial & promotional problem. The fighters your speaking of have NO Say once they sign a contract!!!!

Not every fighter is a Mayweather who is promoter, manager, trainer and fighter!

They build an unrealistic character up and when trials come along they're not ready. In the case of Porter I think its unfair. He was who was before the fight! Tuff kid who tries hard but he is one dimensional but at least he comes to fight. There are fighters in the sport who put a worse effort forward who collect millions for BS!!! Porter is an honest kid! So is Brook.

How are they the past when they all fight right now? Except Ward, I guess, who knows what the hell he's doing.

There's also Steve Cunningham, Bryant Jennings, Crawford, Alvarez, the Dirrells, the Charlos, Andrade, Peterson, Jesse Vargas, Mikey Garcia, Danny Garcia, Nonito Donaire, Rigondeaux, on and on and on I can name fighters in the United States or who train in the United States who have good fundamentals and skills.

It's all about ability not nationality. Manny isn't the most technical boxer. Either is Stevenson. It's more about how you are taught. You use what you have to be successful.

Always says something about some so-called "blue blood" moron from a country who couldn't defeat Rhode Island if it had to who mocks the USA!
This is a country made up of people mostly from Europe who were oppressed by their "blue blooded azzholes" for religious reasons or geographic theft (land rights)

The only true Americans are the Indians that were screwed out of their land rights just like the original settlers here were screwed by the "blue blood" jerks who now start threads on a boxing forum about countries cultures and "how the boxers who live there" are taught"!!!

                  Grow up you idiots!!!

Cultural and country pride is in the Olympics this is "punch for pay" and its about the individuals who participate. Not some flag waving nerd who has never been in a ring!! There's nothing wrong with having country pride but there is something wrong when someone denounces another country over a "boxing match"? really?? Your life must be a mess to come on a forum for boxing and turn it into a cultural battle. Pretty sad to say the least!

Aside from mayweather, hopkins and ward. I see very few great technical American boxers. And last night was another example
Since we're gonna work on misconceptions in this thread, I think it's a bit presumptuous of you to haphazardly assign a shallow set of tastes to such a large and diverse population.

It smacks of the arrogance of ignorance that various sanctimonious folk like to project upon us.

Don't believe everything you see in the media.
