Comments Thread For: Team Porter Upset: Kell Brook Was Holding Too Much

Shawn Porter suffered the first defeat of his career and lost his IBF Welterweight title to visiting Kell Brook last night at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA. The contest was rough and many felt that Brook did a bit too much holding during the fight.

Father and trainer Kenny Porter felt his son gave a great effort but the constant holding by Brook was a real problem.

Then tell your son to stop lunging in with his head down, barrelling into the opponents chest, headbutting and rabbit punching.

Porter is a dirty fighter, accept that and the loss you whinging, arrogant bell-end.

So much for the humbleness and holier than thou act from Porter and his team.

Anyhow, Porter looked like a guy with no plan B, that was their major problem.

Team Brook felt Porter leapt in with his head first and punched behind the head, but chose not to comment on it because it's pathetic.

Was he suppose to just let you run in, tackle, and rabbit punch him? Had porter boxed rather than act like a linebacker then Brook wouldnt have to clinch.

I like Porter so I'm not going to turn my back on him but he looked awful last night. I think he needs a new trainer. He has no sense of distance, he doesn't know how to set up his punches, he smothers himself and he has no way of getting inside other than bull rushing. He was getting clinched because he was coming in reckless, head first with no intent of initiating an attack. By the time he closed distance he was in Brooks personal space with no room to land any effective punches.

He looked like a NFL player last night. Maybe the Bengals have a roster spot for him.
