Comments Thread For: Figueroa Heading To 140, Leaves Linares Door Open

StubHub Center, Carson, California - Last night, Omar "Panterita" Figueroa Jr. (23-0-1, 18 KOs) successfully retained his WBC lightweight title an exciting ninth-round knockout over determined mandatory challenger Daniel "Tremendo" Estrada (32-3-1, 24 KOs).

Following the fight, Figueroa made it clear that making 135-pounds was getting too tough for his body and he was very focused on moving up to the junior welterweight limit of 140-pounds.

Light welter is heating up again.
It already had Garcia/Matthysse/Peterson/Provodnikov/Broner and now Crawford and Figueroa joins the party.
Can't wait for next fights @140

During the same interview Panterita said that he would eventually fight Linares... At 140, maybe?

I hope that Figueroa finds a way to escape from Al's "tutorship"... Oscar would be more attentive with the kid's future, I trust...

I really like omar. I don't know if his style and hand problems are going to be effective at 140.

That's said-him and provo, matthysse, broner or danny would be fights I'd love to see. Algieiri would be a good style matchup but he's busy now.
