Comments Thread For: Malignaggi Still Uncertain About His Future in The Ring

By Mitch Abramson - When he was holed up in the hospital following his brutal loss to Shawn Porter in April, Paulie Malignaggi received a message from an unlikely caller.

Though he is among the more popular and chatty boxers in the sport, only two “big-name fighters hit me out of all the ones I know” to pass along their concerns, Malignaggi said.

The first shouldn’t have come as a surprise; the former welterweight titlist Luis Collazo cut his teeth with Malignaggi in the amateurs and pros and he sent along words of encouragement.

    That was somewhat predictable.

“And the other one was Adrien Broner,” said Malignaggi, surprised and touched all at once.

After all, Broner famously quarreled with Malignaggi before and after they fought in June of last year, claiming he slept with a former flame of Malignaggi’s.

So who would think his former antagonist would now be so interested in his well-being?

“When Adrien hit me up,” Malignaggi said, “it really, for me meant something because we had been beefing so much.” [Click Here To Read More]

He should retire. His style doesn't age well, he took a hard KO and he has a future in broadcasting.

If he fights again it will just be a middle aged man in a furry glittery outfit and cornrows losing several in a row. People will feel sorry for him. The choice is rarely this clear.

Pauli needs to retire or at least cash out on the Senior Circuit fighting guys like Judah, maybe morales, Castillo, casamoyer, katsidis, and other shot fighters

He has no business fighting young lions

Paulie should take an easy-ish fight and retire. Sounds like the offer on the table would do nicely.

Man he doesn't know? Go read the insurance situation between K2 and Magomed..shhh makes retirement sound real good. Man walked in to fight and get a check..left unable to speak or walk again. If you can walk away from the sport having won some belts, hopefully put aside some decent money, and in decent health. Do so. Paulie already has a gig to use as a transition, most boxers don't have that opportunity. Hire a speech coach and get to practicing your telecast mofo...take Roy Jones with ya too.

I hope Paulie just retires already, and I wish he would've never made the comment about Broner touching his heart when he called him after the loss to Porter.

He's probably the best commentator out there at the moment, he's not going to be the best fighter, so focus on that.
