Comments Thread For: Shafikov vs. Nugaev Early ESPN FNF Results

Super bantamweight Edwin Sandoval won a one-sided four round unanimous decision over Lyonell Kelly. Sandoval (3-1, 1 KO) was the busier fighter and landed repeatedly to the head of Kelly. Sandoval could have broken Kelly (0-4-1) down had he attacked to the body, but did enough to win on all three judges' scorecards. Scores were 40-36 in favor of Sandoval.

Nugaev man, such a heart. I nearly hugged the tv at the end of the fight... the type of person I respect. Felt so bad for him, he truly gave it all he had when life presented him with that one opportunity. That conversation they had in the corner shook me up a bit. He has an amazing spirit, a true warrior in ever sense of the word.

Respect to both men, great fight.

That fight was a bit reminiscent of Pac/Marg not on the same level but Nugaev always reminded me of a lesser Marg and Shafikov decent speed southpaw with a in-out style add the WildCard connection btw was that Marvin Somodio in the corner he's really been making a mark with a lot of fighters lately he's slowly becoming one of the brightest young trainers.

I missed the first part of the Pedraza fight, but he looked good, regardless of what Teddy said. Easy competition is a relative thing, at least Pedraza goes looking for fights. He's not trying to win in front of 80000 Puerto Ricans, or Irish, or Scotts. He might if he gets the offer, but that's not a priority.
