A decision should be coming soon with respect to the next opponent for Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (44-1-1, 32KOs). According to coach Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso, who is the head of Canelo's team, a meeting is being targeted for next week with the directors of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar de la Hoya and Eric Gomez, to discuss potential rivals for a planned return in December.

With Kirkland being SMS Promotions, I don't know if a deal can get made for this fight. I think Canelo should look at Demetrius Andrade or Joshua Clottey for his next fight, I think Canelo vs. Clottey would be a solid fight and would probably do decent PPV numbers.

Clottey looked very good against Mundine but that was in Australia. Clottey has been missing in action from the US scene for sometime. I think Kirkland because of his exciting style would do far better on PPV then Clottey.

Personally I think Clottey would give Canelo more trouble than Kirkland but only us boxing fans know who Clottey is. Kirkland is far more relevant and easier to market to US boxing fans than Clottey.

I doubt SMS promotions would get in the way of this fight happening. HBO wouldn't blackball James for fighting the money maker in his division.

I just wish showtime could air it on their channel rather than ppv.

Hope he decides to just move up to 160 already. Nothing left at 54 anymore, and he can't even make the weight anymore. No point in trying to even squeeze down to 155. Get to 160 and position yourself for the Cotto next year.
