Comments Thread For: Omar Figueroa Admits 'Hands Will Always Be an Issue'

This coming Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California - undefeated Omar "Panterita" Figueroa Jr. (23-0-1, 17 KOs), of Weslaco, Texas, will defend his WBC lightweight world championship against mandatory challenger Daniel "Tremendo" Estrada (32-2-1, 24 KOs), of Mexico City.

Figueroa has been plagued with hand injuries since early last year, which have caused moments of inactivity in his career and cancellations of scheduled fights.

Linares would knock out this guy in probably a few rounds.

he has a good chance of losing to this estrada guy. he arguably lost his last fight to an unknown guy named jerry belmontits

Ain't this the kid who lost to Belmontes? I mean he was literally losing round after round. What an embarrassing performance from him. I had high hopes for this guy when I found out he was training with Diaz, but man this guy has no defense or any type of athleticism whatsoever.

I really like Figueroa and hate to see this. It will be hard for him to continue to fight the way he does with hand issues.

cant knock the kid, he fights his style. he not going to use distance and outbox you. hes not a devastating puncher. he is volume puncher period. stand in front of him and he wil let his hands go. thats him nothing special. exciting to watch but it will be a short career for this young man. he should cash in all he can now, because he gets hit way too much plus has issues with his hands. you got to give it to the kid though, he shows tons of heart and will stand there and **** out a win. he has a challenge this weekend but i see him pulling out a split decision. war panterita!!!!
