    A Few questions about Boxing

I have a couple questions about boxing (I've been doing it for like a year, but I still wanna hear other people's opinions).

    1. I'm about 5'9, walk around 157-160 lbs...what weight class would be better for me (middleweight? super welter? or welterweight?)

    2. How would you describe my boxing style? When I spar (fyi I'm a southpaw) I've observed that I use my jab as one of my most frequent punches. I generally circle around my opponent, waiting for a moment to get in close (I kinda think it sounds like Sergio Martinez's style w/o the hands down style maybe?) and when I do get in close, I usually throw flurries of powers, hooks to the body, and least frequently, uppercuts. I don't know which one I'd classify this fighting style as?

As a final note, I know that taller fighters in a weight class are better off keeping their opponent at a distance (ie true boxer) while shorter ones would be more of an infighter...should I change my fighting style to adapt to this?

    Thanks for your help guys!

Whatever weight is comfortable for you to fight at. You're not supposed to be worried about weight early on. Just train until you're in fighting shape and then go from there.

You shouldn't be anywhere near middleweight, you would be severely undersized at 160 (Chavez fought at this weight, and he is huge). Welterweight would be your optimal division, maybe even light welterweight.

I would describe your style something akin that of a boxer-puncher.

Not sure, depends on your weight class, in middleweight you would have to develop your inside fighting.

If you weight 160 you might wanna try junior welterweight as a pro but if you're an amateur 154 is probably where you wanna be especially if you do tournaments and competitions requently.

I think its 152 as amateur (unless they changed it. I know Bradley fought at 152).
