Rod Salka is sort of a bittersweet story for me. Yes, he was completely over matched and was put in a dangerous situation against Garcia but on the other hand, he made more money than he's ever seen in a boxing match before in a fight that he had no place in whatsoever. He knew exactly what he was getting himself into facing Garcia and regardless of his apparent confidence before the fight, did he really think deep down inside that he had any chance of winning? My guess is no. It was just a painful payday for Salka who should never be matched with an elite level boxer again. He doesn't have the goods, doesn't deserve the purse and shouldn't put his health at risk in a no contest.
