Juan Carlos Gomez looking to fight and sounds serious

Heavyweight contender Juan Carlos Gomez is a free agent seeking a promoter. German promoter Universum released Gomez earlier this week after several months of controversy stemming from allegations of drug abuse. German tabloids had published accusations that Gomez had tested positive for ******* after an October bout with Oliver McCall. Ironically it was McCall who was arrested in January with crack ******* in his possession. Gomez passed several independent drug tests but the rumors cost him his rankings. Yet the fighter – nicknamed “The Black Panther” for his strategic approach in attacking his opponent - remained optimistic. “I am eager to get back in the ring and show Universum and the world that they were wrong. I want to box again as soon as possible."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gomez (39-1, 1 NC, 33 KOs) is targeting WBO champ Lamon Brewster and the winner of the Hasim Rahman-James Toney showdown. “Brewster is a strong fighter, someone who earned his position,” commented Gomez. “I would like to fight the winner of Rahman versus Toney. They deserve the title because of their experience and willingness to fight anyone.” On the other side of the ring, Gomez has nothing but disrespect for WBA champ Nicolay Valuev. “He is a clown, a circus freak who shouldn’t be in the ring. I would easily outbox him on my worst day!” Of course, a rematch with McCall is a possibility but Gomez understands that is not likely. “He has been convicted of ******* abuse – again. McCall has a history of drug problems and he needs help, not someone propping him up for a fight.”
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gomez also has several favorite choices among promoters. “Gary Shaw and Artie Pelullo are doing good things with their fighters. I have seen how Shaw can move a fighter into opportunities. Pelullo has made international fighters into superstars, such as Acileno Freitas and now Ricky Hatton. And of course, Golden Boy is popular with Latino fighters.” Simply put, Gomez states: “I would like to work with the world’s best because I am the best heavyweight contender.”

            Gomez

I have followed Gomez since his extensive amateur career like many of you here have as well.
He is a very gifted boxer that just lacks the knockout punch and chin that is required to win the heavyweight championship.
And I may add, he has always been on the mouthy side, but has been able to back it up most of the time.
He was hammered by Diaz though, wasn't he?

It's not fair to fight under the influence of *******. You can't feel the punches until the next day. Gives you an unfair advantage.
