Keith Thurman vs Canelo Alvarez @154

Canelo would still be bigger/taller, but how do you think the fight would play out? Thurman isn't a runner, boxes well, and hits hard.

I believe Thurman has had fights at 154 already, although the opposition was weaker and it was early in his career.

I'm not sold on Thurman yet, and I don't like Canelo but I'll go with him on this one.

Of course this would be at 155 not 154 because that's just how Canelo rolls.

Not sure why Haymon doesn't want Thurman to step up yet (Keith tweeted hes fighting Roberto Garcia next). Probably because he wants to see how his other cows do that are in the 140/147 area. Thurman SEEMS to be the goods, the truth. But he needs the opposition NOW.

Thurman should go out there and KO Devon Alexander, I think that's his best available option right now.

As much as I like Thurman - Canelo eats him.

Thurman don't have Joselito Lopez's balls.

I agree. I don't dislike Thurman at all, he could very well be the next thing.

He's solid but I want to see him step up, it does seem Haymon has him on the back burner.

According to Showtime stats, they are both 5' 7". Boxrec and HBO have Canelo at 5' 9" so I don't know who to believe because I also don't see the point in Showtime lying about Canelo's height, making him shorter, if they are lying.

Anyway, i'm undecided, to me it's 50-50. I like both fighters but obviously Canelo has already been there with the best of 154 excluding Cotto. He's already fought Mayweather, Trout, Lara, Rhodes and a tough guy outside the top 10 but still a decent win in Angulo. And he fought Trout, Mayweather, Angulo and Lara all in a row. I know a lot of you guys hate him for whatever reason but this guy is stacking up a 2008-2013 Carl Froch like-resume and the thing is, it's him who's demanding this type of tough line up. I mean, he wants James Kirkland next!? He's limited but he can punch like hell.

I like Thurman but he has been looking good against good C+/B- fighters and old veterans like Chaves, Zaveck, Karrass, Quintana, J. Diaz. But he can definitely box, he has really good handspeed, good movement, and good power at 147. However, I don't think he can bring that power up to 154 against the top guys. I also don't see how fans would give Canelo much credit for that win, when he can barely get credit for his legit JMW wins(IMO he beat Trout; and fought a Draw with Lara but was okay with him getting the W). There's no love for Canelo for some reason, but lots of love to go around for the lesser proven fighters like Thurman and other fighters who haven't beaten elite fighters like Canelo has.

Canelo destroys this n166a. He should stay at 147 and fight the top guys.

It's just a popularity issue. People see fighters like Thurman fight so smooth and be devastating yet aren't as popular as those we have considered "hypejobs" like Canelo who officially started his step-up career with Austin Trout. (And lets be fair, GBP has had Canelo's back on almost every scorecard since the Trout fight. They gave him 114-114 vs Mayweather for crying out loud)
