  • Comments Thread For: Juan Manuel Marquez Eyes Porter vs. Brook Winner

Promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions would love to match Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-2, 40KOs) against the winner of next Saturday's fight between IBF champion Shawn Porter and mandatory challenger Kell Brook.

Marquez will be ringside for Porter-Brook at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The former four division champion will be working the corner of Daniel Estrada, who challenges WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa on the card.

At this point in his career, Marquez might want to eye retirement. These young champions will give him hell.

Unlike Paulie, Marquez still has power. He put Alvarado on the canvas and surely he can do the same with either guy or outbox them at the very least. Maybe two more big fights and then retirement.

I doubt he'll fight either since they both do OSDT

Paulie once had power? Hulkquez definitely has power when he takes his PEDs!

Well, Paulie never had serious power but enough to keep boxers away from rushing him like Porter did. I mean, Paulie went the distance with Cotto.

Do I have to point to his record and point out that Marquez is fairly prolific in the ko dept? He's been knocking out fools for years. Don't be a boob and pretend he's knocking fools out now just because he's got muscles.

I think Marquez should retire. But, I also think brook and porter have a style an older fighter can still exploit. I also think Porter may be too big for Marquez.

I'm a Marquez fan but it's getting a little old how he openly ponders to the world about "just one more fight", fights, whines, then does the whole process again. All the while he's promised his family he would retire. But always two weeks later he's coming out saying OK I'll fight again. Give up man.
