Comments Thread For: Wlodarczyk Eyes Bigger Purse, Drozd Bout in Doubt?

Apparently WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (49-2-1, 35 KOs) is looking for a bigger purse for a planned defense of the title against Grigory Drozd (38-1, 27 KOs) on September 27th in Moscow. According to reports in Poland, the champion has yet to agree to the financial terms and wants a bump in his purse, which the other side is not willing to satisfy. There is some fear that Wlodarczyk will withdraw from the match. The co-feature of the card will have another Polish/Russian battle, with undefeated Pawel Kolodziej (33-0, 18 KOs) challenging WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (25-2, 19 KOs).

FFS, Wlod should be fighting Lebedev. These damn CW beltholders never face each other.

Wlodarczyk will get what he's asking for if he fights Roy Jones Jr. Which he probably should be facing Jones anyway. Jones is way better than Diablo's previous opponents. Roy still is relevant in the boxing game. Hands down, if you compare Jones's record vs BHop's they have nearly the same amount of wins and losses but I would give Jones the edge based on his quality of wins and having been the Heavyweight Champ. Now he continues boxing with the hope of securing a fight with Wlodarczyk. It doesn't get any better than that. That's a huge fight if it happens and it will be sold out in Moscow. At some point Diablo will have to face Roy. So he may as well get it over with because Roy isn't going anywhere and he keeps winning. RJ's confidence is very high right now and it's up to Diablo to change that if he's willing to step up.
I believe the fight can be made with no problem. Jones is a businessman first and he has been wanting this fight for nearly two yrs. RJ is still the Ring General and Wlodarczyk should want to face not only a legend but arguably one of the top 10 greatest fighters of all time......AND STILL........

Lol... Diablo would knock RJJ out with ease... That fight should never happen.

Drozd is a good fighter, but I hear you on unification. This has to be just talk to squeeze out money, but if it fell through then this year is pitiful. Diablo-Drozd and Lebedev-Kolodziej is the best double header of the year.
