He was virtually unknown at the time. Its not like he had the name power to have that happen for him. More than likely, the other fighters wanted to build a name in the States to make more money, so they were willing to travel.

So Ward changed his tune the same way GGG's team did. No surprise.

Don't see this guy fighting anyone any time soon. I don't like his style so I'm cool with him outta the game for an extended period of time. **** it......

Yup! He did change his tune but cries so much about GGG doing it.

I keep seeing people say Ward is scared of Kovalev/Stevenson, but I disagree.

Ward has faced an undefeated Froch, Dawson (asked to fight Ward at 168), Rodriguez, and a once defeated Abraham (not counting DQ to Dirrel) and once defeated Kessler.. All were elite fighters.

Sure, Ward should test himself and move up; no doubt about it, but I highly doubt he's scared.

He does seem content with what he's accomplished. Although I would like to see him test himself and move up like the greats he's compared too (i.e. Hopkins, RJJ, etc), but technically speaking, if Ward retired tomorrow, he's a HOF'er.

Hopkins also had 20 something middleweight title defences if I'm not mistaken. How many did Hagler and Monzon have?

Anderson Silva has been stuck at 185 for like 20 years, while only going up in weight twice against weak competition.

I'd like to see Ward move up, but I'm not gonna get upset if he doesn't. I mean let's face it, the majority of people that want him to fight Kovalev, want that fight to happen because they want to see him lose.

Golovkin/Quillin interests me more. Golovkin should be more focused on that, but Quillin ain't going anywhere near him.

                Ward is just jealous.
He is jealous of GGG's popularity, he is jealous of Froch's popularity, and he is jealous of Chavez Jr. popularity.

He feels his accomplishments warrant more recognition but he forgets that boxing isn't like the old days. In today's boxing you have to give the fans something to look forward to watching. Whether it's through KO's, brawling or out of the ring entertainment. He does none of these. He's just lucky he's American or not he'd be 168 Rigondeaux.

Froch wasn't undefeated and neither was Dawson.
And no one is saying he needs to move up, but he can't complain about not getting fights if he's unwilling to move up with guys who would fight him.

He should fight Pascal, Stevenson, Bute or Hopkins then if Kovalev is high risk. Just fight someone, because not doing anything is well...not doing anything.

What are the particulars on his management situation? I don't know if he can fight even if he wanted too...

Besides, I think he's just content with being at 168 and defending his titles. Hopkins, Monzon, Hagler did it for years at 160.

But as a fan, I always want to see the best fights; I just think people are wrong when they say he's scared.

Anyone entering the Super Six during that time was not scared to lose their 0. Heck, 4 of the 6 contestants were undefeated. Somebody's 0 had to go
