That fight with Maidana wasn't close at all, Broner got beat down bruised and battered. Broner catches slack because of his lack of class and how he carries himself...if you talk as much as he does than you have to stick around and face the music when you lose, NOT running out of the ring like a scared little girl. Also he was less than impressive winning a SD against Paulie who is AVERAGE at best and Broner couldn't even hurt him the whole night.

Broner was being put on p4p lists and being called the next great boxer after Floyd when all he did was dominate some c level fighters that were two divisions smaller than him and barely get by the worst title holder at WW. If he fought Matthysse he would be knocked out.

At least Matthysse destroyed Peterson, and most people have him at least winning one of the Alexander/Judah fights.

I don't hate on Broner but he was being billed as a superstar while fighting limited opposition. When he finally did step up against Maidana he was considered exposed, even though many were saying that before when he fought Malignaggi.

Matthysse on the other hand had fought several top fighters and was impressive. Perhaps his knockouts were deceptive and his fight with Garcia let us know where he was at, but previous to that he earned a place that Broner had not reached as a professional, in spite of the hype.
