  • Why don't more boxers become refs?

It amuses me that often there are old refs and judges, I am talking over 60 years old. Some are excellent refs and judges, but I suspect that age can affect others hence poor decisions.

Boxers have been in their and usually have great eyes and understanding of the sport. Would they not make good refs?

Because they might already have more than enough cash for promoters to bribe them into making the decisions they want to have happen...

Boxers who aren't poor judging and refereeing = Hard to fix fights.

Imagine RJJ as a ref... it'd be like when Shonie Carter reffed MMA..

Least we'd all get a good ole sing-song after the fight is done and during the RJJ telling both guys the rules to the fight before it begins.

I remember Tyson reffing an MMA match, and he was absolutely horrible.. stood them up immediately after hitting the mat. Some guys just don't make a good ref.. and old fighters who have taken quite a bit of damage over their careers really can't be trusted at that position. With that said, I think the problem with refs/judges like the Vegas garbage last night is simply due to the reusing of these same guys over and over who are all buddies and know who they're supposed to score for. There should be a limit to how many fights a person can judge/ref per year and especially on televised cards.

Yea I remember Joe Louis was a ref also Boxers should be judges also but have them fly in from different parts of the world unannounced until the day of the fight so TMT doesn't pay them off.

What does Tyson know about MMA ? I say he would do better in boxing he couldn't be worse than Joe Cortez or Kenny Bayless

well look at the uk almost all their refs are old fighters and they are considered the most corrupt and worst refs there are. You would think it be a good idea but maybe its not
