Comments Thread For: The Stevenson Lawsuit and Kovalev vs. Hopkins

The basis for Main Events’ lawsuit against light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson was that it had a valid agreement for its 175-pound titleholder, Sergey Kovalev, to face Stevenson later in 2014.

That lawsuit was filed earlier this year. Kovalev and Bernard Hopkins have recently signed to face each other — leaving Stevenson without an anticipated bout with Hopkins and without Kovalev as well. Would it be possible for Stevenson to attempt to stop Kovalev-Hopkins by claiming he has, well, an agreement to face Kovalev?

Interesting. So they dropped GBP from the lawsuit. I guess it's only GYM and Haymon?

Where are all those certified accountants who applauded Adonis for making a smart business decision?

This is the risk when you duck someone without a guarantee of something better. Tim Bradley is very lucky this didn't happen to him after he ducked Khan.

LOL, Khan fans are starting to become almost as delusional as Khan himself. Only in Khan's world would turning down a fight with an overrated chinless fighter to fight Manny Pacquiao would be considered a duck.

LMAO. Khan ducked Alexander and it back fired. Not surprised Khan fans try to make it seem like anyone ducks him.

I'm still here and still think he did right to go for the bigger payday with Hopkins.

What I don't get is that Stevenson's side is saying that Hopkins took less money to fight Kovalev than what they offered him for Adonis.

Yeah, but he didn't get the Hopkins fight bro. It ultimately backfired

AND it could get worse. the absolute worst case scenario for Adonis is if Kovalev wins and will then hold 3 belts..... He's probaly going to be forced to fight Kovalev then, and he definitely won't hold as much leverage, even though he's the "lineal " champ

oh and read that latest article on the front page. Hopkins said he thinks Haymon tried to pull a quick one on him.
