Does GGG get credit for beating cotto?

Yes yes I know cotto a champion at 160 but he only came up to fight sergio martinez who not even a true 160pounder and make history ...cotto himself is kind of small for 154er prime GGG kills last stages cotto

When your a superstar like cotto, belts don't matter... if GGG and his camp wants a big name like cotto on there resume he should come down to 154
He did say he would go to 154-168 for a big fight

I already believe that GGG a bad boy and makes anybody at 160 a good boy
But to me gggvscotto a complete mismatch

I want this fight a lot. Amongst casuals yes. Amongst boxing fans, no. Amongst Cotto Haters like myself yes. But Cotto is a bum. Make it happen at MSG in front of all his adoring fans, It will look like Brazil vs Germany. I want to see the look on the Cotto fans faces while GGG is painting his white gloves pink and making the ink from Cotto's tattoos leak. Cotto needs to retire, He needs to be retired by the true middleweight champion. Canelo does not need Cotto. His redhead hypejob ass has already made it. He needs GGG to put him in his place.

He gets the credit he deserves.

He would beat a small 154 pounder who is a HOFamer, who happened to go up and fight a crippled version of the once was champion.

It's by no means a defining win for GGG. He's already the man at middleweight.

You have to make the poll for this ...then compare it to the poll of " who wins GGG vs Cotto. "Then compare to the Thread" who wants to see GGG vs. Cotto".... Draw you own conclusions after reviewing them.

And amongst the Cotto fans who go to MSG. He becomes their new king and the new God of Madison Square Garden.

You should always get credit for winning... If ggg beats cotto, it clearly makes him #1 mw in the world

The fight needs to happen. But GGG is already the #1 Middleweight in the world. This just cements it for the casuals who don't know the name GGG.

It depends on how he beats him and at what weight.
Golovkin is expected to beat pretty much everybody around his division, so how he goes about defeating his opponents will be critical to how he is judged.
The only fighter that I think could maybe beat Golovkin is Ward. But I still favor Golovki in that matchup.

Considering he'd be drained, yeah, some credit, but it's hard to figure out just how much credit these days. As pointed out, Cotto cherry picked an old Martinez, just how good or bad is Cotto at the bizarre cherry pick catchweight standard - no one knows and most likely never will.

Probably not much unless it was a competitive fight, which I don't think it would be.
