Comments Thread For: NYSAC Helping Boxers Obtain Affordable Health Insurance

The New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC), which regulates the sport of boxing in New York State, launched an initiative to enroll uninsured members of the State’s boxing community in affordable health care plans through New York State of Health: The Official Health Plan Marketplace. The Commission has enlisted the services of not-for-profit NADAP, which has been contracted by the New York State Department of Health (DOH), to enroll individuals and families in the Health Insurance Marketplace.

I dont expect this thread to get a lot of hits, but big ups to the commission for doing such a thing. Boxers need insurance as they put their lives on the line whenever they get in the ring.

        it's about freaking time....

i understand that you can't insure a fighter all year if he only ifghts two four rounders, and makes two grand, but we need to make sure the world class fighters are properly insured.

just look at magomed abdusalamov. he needs round the clock care, probably for the rest of his life.

          This is really positive news.

Hopefully (I'm probably dreaming) someday we'll see a national boxing commission established so coverage can be extended to pro boxers fighting anywhere in the USA.
