You said that Broner had nowhere near the hype Matthyse, GGG and Kovalev had which is a gross exaggeration. Broner's hype was definitely up there with Matthysse and GGG. Kovalev doesn't get the hype that those three did.

Like the poster above mentioned, Broner's fans are still intact. He's talked about because of his entertainment level. He's loved but mostly hated, and people tune in in hopes that he loses.

People didn't do the same for Matthysse. They only liked him because he was knocking people out. He was hyped to death. People said his boxing skills were incredible too...LOL.

As far as now, it would be hilarious for me, as a poster on here, in this forum, to see some of the Mayweather fanatics have to eat a little crow in a convincing, KTFO fashion at the hands of Maidana.

Dumb dumb, rabid fans and hype jobs go hand in hand. They are made for each other. So your example doesn't apply and you know it. I understand you may still be a little salty about your hero practicing his best planking impression in the middle of a championship fight, but you need to understand the difference. Floyd isn't a hype job nor does he have rabid fans. He has credentials in the sport ranging for nearly 20 years. His fans are intact win or lose.

If you had reversed things on the other hand and mentioned Maidana, that would have been a sufficient example. Maidana's fans aren't loyal because his style brings a certain type of fan who is fixated on KO's only. They leave just as quick as they come.

With news coming about the Hopkins vs Kovalev fight being signed, it begs the question...is this another Matthysse vs Garcia in the making? Where a rabid fanbase full of casual fans who are only fixated on KO's went on and on for months talking about how their guy was going to put a hurting on Danny? Aside from Pacquiao, I've never seen such a rabid and emotionally delusional fanbase in boxing, period. I've never seen a fighter lose that many fans in a span of 48 minutes.

We have a similar situation in the BHOP vs Kovalev fiasco. Tons of rabid emotionally invested casuals who became Kovalev fans simply due to his high KO % instead of his actual skillset. And of course we have others who just simply hate Bernard for whatever reason. Another classic between the boxer with a shelf full of credentials vs the hype beast with a high KO % against stiffs.

If Kovalev was named John Smith from Iowa or Jamal Parker from Brooklyn no one would care about him.....He has that "exotic" foreign feel that the casual fans can't get enough of....

Which situation where a hype job who was supposed to be "GOD" got exposed would be funnier to you? Or maybe you have another choice, like Pavlik-Hopkins, Tito-Hopkins, Provodnikov-Algeri, Pac vs JMM III?

Pac is not a hype job....He's one of the best fighters of the last 15 years....Tito was not a hype job either he was a damn good fighter who just ran into prime Hopkins (one of the all time greats).

Ruslan and Pavlik were hype jobs....Don't get me wrong they are/were both very good fighters, but not on the elite level like many thought....

I think Matthyse getting exposed was the best but I would love to see Hopkins embarrass Kovalev and shut his ignorant fanbase up aswell.....
