Who would win? Bernard Hopkins vs Gennady Golovkin at 170lbs

Hopkins can make 170lbs easy, but would drop 5lbs. GGG would go up 10lbs.

Hopkins last fought at 170lbs vs undefeated power puncher Kelly Pavlik, he schooled him easy in the underdog role. Prior to Pavlik, Hopkins had fought Winky Wright at 170lbs as well in 2007, he won a tough, ugly fight.

Golovkin advantages: Power and age (17 years younger), going up is better than going down in weight, especially at 49 for Hopkins.

Hopkins advantages: Size, height, reach, defense, pro experience.

Advantages not counted in the ring:

Bernard Hopkins - Pre-fight antics/talk/mind games. Confidence from fighting all kinds of power punchers from all levels at 160-175 and beating them (Trinidad, Tarver, Pavlik, Eastman, Cloud, Joppy, Allen, Echols)
Gennady Golovkin - Hype, fans would probably be on his side, undefeated record makes fighters feel invincible, confident.

It would be an embarrassing night for GG fanboys and I would love every bit of it.

Call it Lucas vs Garcia part 2. Fanboys getting chopped down from state to state.

I don't know, this is Golovkin we are talking about. He just destroyed Daniel Geale in 3 rounds. Bernard Hopkins struggled with Karo Murat and couldn't finish off Beibut Shuminov even after shocking him and knocking him down with a brutal punch. Pascal knocked down and visibly hurt B-Hop, can Golovkin do the same, or worse?

Bruh there is no need to hype him up. Any version of BHop takes this kid to class. Daniel Geale...LOL..guess you gotta give him some credit for not taking the usual route of finding the nearest JMW to force up in weight.

Can we have a GGG v Wlad thread next?

And after that I want to have a GGG v Ali fantasy fight.

No idea how Golovkin would perform above 160. I'd bet on Hopkins.

No point. Hopkins made it clear his goal is to unify 175. Fighting Golovkin doesn't do anything for him, nor does it do anything for GGG moving up to 170.

It's a 10lb jump. Hopkins spent most of his career at middleweight. What are you talking about?

Geale beat Mundine, Sturm, and Sylvester.

Shumenov and Murat don't have names like that on their resume.

The only way Bernard has any chance to survive all 12 against Golovkin is if he uses every single weapon in his deep arsenal of dirty tactics otherwise he has no chance.
