His chin is total and absolute crap and I can tell you why, he gets the living **** beat out of him in camp. It makes him a tough mother ****er but the guy is nearly as chinny as Amir Khan. The last guy Cotto faced that was put on his ass a few times was Sergio Martinez. If Cotto doesn't KO Kirkland which I think he would, he would at least outbox the **** out of him.
So what anyone can lose Ishida is 6ft 2 and he caught Kirkland with a good punch If he landed the same shot on Cotto you can be sure to say that Cotto wouldn't be recovering from it either and not to forget Ishida was still pretty good back then whereas Cotto is a midget in comparison.
There is no way Cotto knocks Kirkland out, Kirkland will put him to sleep or make him quit similarly to how Margarito made him quit.

Angulo is a big man for the weight... and even he was capable of dropping a tricky southpaw in Lara what is your point?

People only seem to remember the bad fights of Kirkland but they remember the good ones for Cotto?
Cotto was getting his ass handed to him by Clottey and you can't even make an excuse up for it and he was even having a hard time against a faded Shane Mosley all the while making excuses for him losing to the likes of Pacquiao but sure... beating 39yo??
Segio Martinez recovering from a knee operation is a great win.

You bring up the Clottey fight, a fight which Cotto won and somehow that compares to getting KO'd in the first round by a guy with Paulie KO power. There is nothing to even compare, Angulo is a D class fighter I don't care how big he is the guy is absolute garbage and Kirkland still nearly lost that one. Yes, he was in war but he was hurt badly in the first round yet again and Cotto is 10x's the finisher Angulo is. Also, go read the latest news on the site and it's yet ANOTHER article stating Sergio's knee was fine and he didn't even have it examined afterwards. He got hit with a punch that messed him up the whole fight, Kirkland would have just folded up like a chair he is the Amir Khan of JMW in terms of punch resistance.

The point is Kirkland has been in with bigger punchers than Cotto you just said it (Angulo) and all of a sudden you think a small man like Cotto is going to give him problems?
Cotto is 10x the fighter Angulo is but he'd have got an even worse of a beating IF he was the one fighting Lara...
Once again styles make fights and Kirkland is good enough to beat the **** out of him.

Cotto just showed he can KO a MW who hadn't been KO'd in 14 years, but he can't hurt a JMW who has been sparked in the first round before? I'm sure you were also saying Cotto was too small for Martinez and look how that worked out. I'll just remember to bump this thread if Cotto fights Kirkland and bump it right after Kirkland wakes up.

I never seen him spark Martinez out I seen Martinez looking like he couldn't hold the weight behind his legs moving in the fashion he was 'trying' to move in.
If you think Kirkland is going to approach Cotto like he did with Ishida you'll be sadly mistaken.

Hell Kirkland has already fought better than Cotto in Carlos Molina he never fared well in that fight but he still managed to land.

Cotto would stop Kirkland in the middle rounds in a brutal fight. I don't think Kirkland has stamina issues at all. He has defensive issues. He slows down a lot after the early rounds too. He would be a punching bag for Miguel. It's just a matter if he can take his punches. I don't think he can. He keeps his chin up and right hand low. Kirkland's chin was a lot better 5 years ago.

He clearly hurt Martinez. His camp even said as much. I don't think Cotto is a big pincher at 169 or even 154. He is a good enough puncher and has great timing. That is what would be Kirkland's downfall.

Molina has zero power and Kirkland could have lost that fight had Molina's corner handled it better.
