Thank you, finally something good happens.UPDATE (1:32PM ET): The worst case scenario has been averted, as Argentine slugger Diego Chaves has been cleared to travel from Argentina to participate in his highly anticipated showdown with Brandon Rios. The bout is slated to air this weekend on HBO, live from The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Chaves' travel status was confirmed by Top Rank publicist Fred Sternburg, who announced the good news through his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon.Comment

So is this "FOR SURE" on? Since nobody's heard from Chaves's camp themselves... so far it's just the 2 reporters and top rank's guy. So still wondering..
Also, has anyone seen Chaves in another good fight besides the Thurman one?Comment

No Thurman is the only legit guy Chaves has ever faced, and if were being critical Thurman has been fairly untested for the most part himself. He looked good in spots, but ultimately couldn't hang and was stopped. I like what I saw from Chaves but it's beyond me why so many are so high on him to beat Rios.Comment

Looked very open to left hooks and didn't seem like he wanted to be there at the end of the fight.
But Rios is there to be hit, so who knows.Comment

My only guess is that Chaves is a naturally bigger guy who also has a lot of power in his punches (many of his matches ended in a KO before they even reached the 5th round). Sure, you can question his level of competition but it's still hard to see how a smaller and limited boxer like Rios can deal with that kind of power. No Thurman is the only legit guy Chaves has ever faced, and if were being critical Thurman has been fairly untested for the most part himself. Rios is a big boy make no mistake about it and we know he has a great chin. He's limited but the main concern I have about Chaves is whether he'll be willing to handle everything Rios brings if his power doesn't faze him.My only guess is that Chaves is a naturally bigger guy who also has a lot of power in his punches (many of his matches ended in a KO before they even reached the 5th round). He seemed to go down rather easily against Thurman, now it could've been the effect of that body shot the previous round, almost as if he had enough.Comment
