BoxRec jumps the gun and is wrong a lot

I have seen countless fights posted on BoxRec for a date and that fight never happens. Keith Thurman vs Marcos Maidana was posted on their site for Sept. 13, Broner vs Matthysse also for Sept. 13 and now Cotto vs Chavez Jr. for December is wrong also these are just a few examples of many. They also had Golovkin vs Chavez Jr. posted on their site. BoxRec is nowhere near official and seems not to have that good of sources.

And every news outlet gets the story right 100% of the time...
What is your point we're human and there are countless amount of stories about, at least they're trying name me one more site that does it better than them having all the dates for every fight?

People really do need to stop using them as a source before fights are signed

People need to stop posting "Boxrec has "X" fight listed, OMG" threads. They go on by the same rumors everyone else hears. They have zero special sources.

BoxRec is a site run entirely by volunteers. I very much appreciate the
work they do and we shouldn't complain. We're lucky to have BoxRec as a quick source of information.

Of course there's a mistake from time to time - I've contacted them to correct a few things in the past.

But overall they do an excellent job.

Agreed. Boxrec posts every fight that's ever rumored.

              This is true.

But as far as I've seen no one really takes it as gospel on here. It's just used as speculation. Someone sees a big fight on boxrec and they make a thread about it because they're excited. It doesn't mean that the fight will happen but it could. Boxrec gets it right sometimes too.

This is exactly what i say. They post things, and if it is wrong, they take it down. But for the most part they have been extremely accurate. I like boxrec and use it when i need to. Only thing I take as gospel is when two fighters are in the ring.

They only get it right if is based on information from another credible online source. So we might as well be posting news from the actual sources, not boxrec.

There has never been a time where boxrec named a fight before anyone else and got it right.
