The lineal title. One that can be traced over ten years. You'd rather it defended by a JMW or WW? Boxing fans should always want the Champion to defend against the #1.
I rather watch competitive fights over mismatches for the sake of an imaginary title. Yes, Cotto should give up his lineal belt, but that in no way means anyone should be advocating a Cotto vs Golovkin massacre.

Are you mental? I guess the point flew over your head.

Well after Geale vs. GGG bombed, I seriously doubt that HBO will air the Soliman fight. He might have to fight Soliman in Monaco now.

What I don't understand is how there could be such a huge drop off from the Stevens fight. He literally lost half of his viewers. Maybe it was the long layoff, maybe the fans lost interest and want to see him tested, who knows. But this a really bad sign so far.

Mismatches are what's wrong with the sport. Cotto vs Golovkin is one.

no, you just came off as more of a GGG diehard than a boxing fan with that, which is fine. no offense.

You either have latinos vs latinos, latinos vs blacks, latinos vs white, black vs latinos.

Remember Rigo vs King Kong - two black fighters, same ****ty ratings.

Interracial fights sell better - look at DLH vs Mayweather, Alvarez vs Mayweather

When was the last fight that had good ratings or that even went on pay per view b/w two white fighters, never?

Floyd fights pretty much only Latinos, the only exception was Mosley who had just destroyed Margarito in another interracial fight and had established himself as a name.

So GGG has to fight Quilin, Kirkland, Cotto, Ward, Canelo, - pretty much black and latino fighters as far as ratings go. That's what casual fans are about - they want to see a fight but if it's different races that's what it is all about whether you want to admit or not. Again, this is casual fans.
                Didn't Provodnikov/Algieri do over a million views?

From what I've read, GGG just extended his HBO contract. Now all his fights will be shown on HBO even if they are overseas.

I have explain this a thousand times already. Cotto can drop his WBC belt, but he cant quit being the lineal champ, thats the man who beat the man, who beat the man, unless he have a time machine goes back and loses to Martinez on purpose.

                    • Dude is not star yet....just stop forcing it on us. He's a decent fighter, and if continues to do what he does, he might get there someday.
