What I don't understand is how there could be such a huge drop off from the Stevens fight. He literally lost half of his viewers. Maybe it was the long layoff, maybe the fans lost interest and want to see him tested, who knows. But this a really bad sign so far.

You either have latinos vs latinos, latinos vs blacks, latinos vs white, black vs latinos.
Remember Rigo vs King Kong - two black fighters, same ****ty ratings.
Interracial fights sell better - look at DLH vs Mayweather, Alvarez vs Mayweather
When was the last fight that had good ratings or that even went on pay per view b/w two white fighters, never?
Floyd fights pretty much only Latinos, the only exception was Mosley who had just destroyed Margarito in another interracial fight and had established himself as a name.
So GGG has to fight Quilin, Kirkland, Cotto, Ward, Canelo, - pretty much black and latino fighters as far as ratings go. That's what casual fans are about - they want to see a fight but if it's different races that's what it is all about whether you want to admit or not. Again, this is casual fans.
