160 is an awful division ive said it for a long time. Hes going to have to move up if he wants bigger numbers. Ward froch chavez jr all can pull more fighting no one. It has nothing to do with him not being american. It has to do with his quality of opponents.

Golovkin has pulled more fighting worse. This seems an anomaly. Maybe not, his next fight will tell us.

I completely understand what Team GGG was saying given where the sport is. I was just taken aback by a them saying it when they are not in position (from a financial standpoint) to act like that.

If GGG and his team are going to act like that, why get surprised if/when cotto/canelo/Floyd/many/Sergio/jcc jr all say that to him?

I think team Triple Duck is somewhat delusional with respect to Golovkin's options. Right now, he only has one marquee fighter willing to fight him and that's Ward. Everyone else doesn't need Golovkin. Even Ward, whenever he gets his promotional issues sorted out, has options. Having said that, if I were Triple Duck's handlers, I'd keep him away from Ward. His best bet, IMO, is to keep away from 168 and keep knocking out TOMATO CANs until the Mayweather/Alvarez/Cotto situation sorts itself out.

GGG problem is he isn't American perhaps he'd get a lot more attention If he was fighting in the likes of Germany... I get the feeling the Germans would back him like one of their own just like they did with the K bros.

problem is that he isnt american. So khan, maidana, froch, stiverne (yes even stiverne) doesnt get alot of attention? wow the double standards. GGG fans are getting worse than floyd fans.

Exactly. If he doesn't fight Cotto, Alvarez or Quillin in his next fight then what's the point of staying @ 160? Fighting Soliman does *nothing* to enhance his legacy. Pointless fight and @ 32 years old, he doesn't have time to waste...

It was configured for 9,000. Considering Golovkin was the only draw on the card, it's not a bad number for a mid-summer show.

Expectations for the telecast, however, were unrealistic. If the final numbers were in line with what event handlers expected, they should have mentioned that up front. Vowing the event to be the most viewed fight of 2014 - while perhaps intended hyperbole - suggests more was expected than what actually came of the show.
