Comments Thread For: Vidal-Kantun Highest Rated Bout Ever For Telemundo

The July 18 edition of Boxeo Telemundo didn’t just kick off the network’s summer season, but set the bar for all future episodes to follow. Nielsen Media Research reports revealed the show to pull in 641,000 viewers, registering as the highest-rated event of any boxing telecast in Telemundo’s 25 years involved with the sport.

Headlining the show, Jonathan Vidal scored an 8th round knockout of Juan Kantun in Kissimmee, Florida. The bout that kicked off promoter Felix ‘Tuto’ Zabala’s super flyweight tournament, with Vidal likely to face the winner of this weekend’s battle between Daniel Lozano and Antonio Tostado, which airs live from Tampa (Friday, 11:35 p.m. ET).

      Game changer.

Hopefully they can expand that budget and get bigger fights on Telemundo.

They got higher ratings than Friday Night Fights? The new format definitely seems to be working.

It was a good fight and a great one punch ko from Vidal. Telemundo and Azteca have pretty good fights sometimes. I can't wait for Estrada Segura. Is has foty written all over it, but HBO and Sho have their heads up their asses. At least it will be on one of those networks, it was listed on boxrec the other day but I'm not sure if that fight is a done deal.

Tuto Zabala always puts on competative shoqs that fills this 4k+ arena...Vidal, IMO, was way behind b4 he landed that 1 punch ko shot...worth staying up late 4 ....
