Cotto's manager is basically saying that Golovkin is still a minor leaguer in terms of his drawing power and hasn't earned his shot at Cotto. This is the same thing that Froch's promoter said about Golovkin. So, the only people who think GGG is a big dog who deserves a shot at the financial big shots in boxing are Golovkin, his team and his fans on this site. I guess this means we will continue to see GGG fighting the Sam Solimans and the Curtis Stevens of the boxing world unless and until Golovkin develops enough guts to fight Andre Ward and prove that he can draw on PPV and beat a top quality opponent.

Cotto has 2 or 3 left in him and he's looking for the $$$$ and rightfully so. If he fought GGG in December it just might be his last fight. Why jeopardize his future security.... he's earned that right so i don't begrudge him for looking elsewhere first. Canelo on the other hand could also bring that 3 fights left down to 0 too. Cotto is an established world class fighter while GGG is still trying to be one. I agree the fight makes no sense with Canelo and his fan base out their.

Cotto has a fight with Alvarez looming, a potential rematch with Mayweather and a potential fight against Chavez Jr. He has no reason to waste his time considering a fight with someone like GGG who is trying to get to the big time when all three of these fights will earn him three times as much money as a fight with GGG.
