"DE LA HOYA: "MAYWEATHER MUST COME TO 154!"

"DE LA HOYA: "MAYWEATHER MUST COME TO 154!"
    By Matthew Goldstein

At Thursdays taping of ESPN's Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith, Oscar De La Hoya commented off camera that "Floyd Mayweather must come up to 154lbs" if he wants a piece of the "Golden Boy." Provided Oscar is able to get by the hard punching and awkward style of 154lb WBC champion Ricardo Mayorga, a match up with the #1 P4P fighter in the world, "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather Jr., could easily become one of the highest grossing and most anticipated fights in the history of boxing. Will 154lbs be too much for the P4P Picasso or will he stop the final chance at glory for the Golden Boy? With Judah standing in front of Mayweather, and Mayorga in front of De La Hoya, both fighters seem to have their plates full. "

DLH knows first hand what it is like to go up in weight just alittle too far and is trying to lure PBF into doing the same IMO.

on another website yesterday odlh said that he could make "147 easy" and now hes saying this ... yeah, i truly believe that oscar is trying to gain an advantage in weight by making pbf go to '54 ... but he shouldn't dilute the combat, he should go down to '47 - floyd's too small and he knows this - this fight should be made at '47 - i wanna see floyd lose for real and if this fights held at '54 then i wont like it.

I agree with that, DLH knows that PBF moving to 154 is going to be a stretch and that will favor him. But will see...

Hope he does lure him. There is nothing more I would like to see in boxing then that arrogant Mayweather getting his ass whooped.

But I see it a bit differently. PBF walks into the ring at around 148-149 for his welterweight bouts. My thinking is that he ignores the weight limits and just trains like he trains. If Oscar is 10 pounds bigger on fight night - so what? Oscar was always gonna have the size and strength advantage anyway. And we all know that Oscar looks bloated and slow if he tries to be too big.

Floyd comes in around 150. Oscar comes in around 159, and Floyd pops him for 12 rounds en route to a fairly easy decision.

PBF needs to stay far away from Winky, though.

I think it's just more of a problem for Oscar to fight at 147, than him trying to get PBF to fight at 154...

Think about RJJ going back to light heavy after he embarrassed Ruiz..

If they fight at 154, I may actually favor DLH..

Shouldn't be a problem for Mayweather, he was calling Wright out

If they fight at 154 I think De la Hoya has chance to do what hopkins did to him. and thats exactly what he wants
