Ali was a human punching bag?

A punching bag with an undisputed belt around it along with the adoration of much of the world? Do explain his lack of skill when he ruled the division with little true power in his punches.

If punching bags like him were hung up through out the world there would be a quick changing in the believe that bag work is good for a fighter.

He didn't say Ali lacked skill. I don't think anyone is crazy enough to say that.

But Ali did did popularize the 'punching bag' style as a strategy. Although, he didn't do it in every fight. The downside is just that Ali did take considerable punishment in his career, which led to the downfall of his health. It's easy to criticize fighters when people aren't the ones absorbing the blows, nor having to deal with the permanent and later health consequences later on in life.

You could say the same thing about Pacquiao (won the welterweight title at 145 and the jr middleweight title at 151). Different eras, fighters of the past had no choice but to fight the best, and there was still some handpicking here and there.
