Kovalev/Duva turn attention towards Fall fight with Pascal

So there was the whole fallout with Pascal and GYM/Interbox and him eventually leaving. Now Cloud will be fighting Bibetruv and Pascal out looking for a fight... a fight that was 1M+.

Then Hopkins talk looking just like that:

According to hear, they turned their eyes to Pascal.

Here's the google translate for the people who can't seem to do it themselves

Jean Pascal will not have to search long a plan B. A few hours after his divorce with his Quebec publicized promoters and the cancellation of his duel against Tavoris Cloud , boxer Laval was approached for a fight against the champion Sergey Kovalev world.

Kovalev promoter, Kathy Duva, confirmed to The Press yesterday he contacted the agent Pascal to express his interest. "We talked in the last hours eras, said Duva phone. Sergey is ready for Pascal. We will have a day on the waves of HBO. And if they are interested and we agree, that would be a fight. "

Sergey Kovalev (24-0, 22 KOs) will put his WBO champion Thurs 2 August against Blake Caparello (19-0, 6 KOs) in a fight where he is heavily favored. After that, "it would be ready to fight against Pascal in October or November," says Duva.

"In the spring, we offered a fight with Pascal this summer, but he refused, because he spoke of a fight against Cloud and then a rematch against Lucian Bute, says the president of the group Main Events . Now things seem to have changed, so we called to remind them of our interest. "

    "Kovalev interests us"

Pascal (29-2-1, 17 KOs) would be willing to cross swords with Kovalev, a boxer is also concerned that the Adonis Stevenson in the heavyweight division? After we sent her a text message, his agent reminds us. "Of course John was ready, he is not afraid of anyone," says Greg Leon, in a formula that had to use all promoters in the history of boxing.

Apart from this hackneyed phrase, Leon did not want to come forward. Pascal and he will travel to New York the week to meet next television networks, he said. "We'll go see what they have to offer, says Leon. We have several options, several offers on the table and the idea of a fight against Kovalev interests us, for sure. "

During the short interview, Leon has repeatedly sent ****es GYM and InterBox . According to him, the Quebec promoters are the biggest losers in the small schism that took place this week between them and their client.

"They lost a fight with Jean Pascal millions, he argues. Jean Pascal has not lost anything, because it will end up paying another fight as, if not more. John could make his next fight as well as for two fights with GYM and InterBox. "

Leon insists that it is not Pascal derailing negotiations. He noted that the intransigence of the promoters is "weird" and that the history of $ 50,000 does not explain everything.

"This is not Jean Pascal who wanted to leave. But hey, that's life. Them, they lose it. , We lose nothing, "claims agent.

For its part, Kathy Duva could kill two birds with one stone by combining Kovalev Pascal find an opponent renowned for his client on the one hand, while sending a jab at Yvon Michel on the other.

Duva was scalded last winter when Stevenson withdrew in extremis a scheduled fight against Kovalev. She then filed a lawsuit against Stevenson, Michael and other personalities from the world of boxing.

Considering how Pascal looked against Froch, Diaconu 2x and Bute, all power punchers more or less skilled than Kovalev, i'd say it would be a tough fight that Pascal wins. Froch is better than both Pascal and Kovalev though. Off topic but I remember Pascal vs Froch, it was a very close fight, definitely closer than the scorecards suggested. Personally I had it 115-113 Froch. It's one of my top 10 favorite fights since 2008. Pascal-Diaconu fights were also great. Pascal is an underrated guy, he really has no hype behind him, yet he beat Dawson, Bute and Diaconu. Weird how these guys with no good wins get hyped to the max though.

I agree. I don't get why Pascal has been so causally brushed aside lately. I think he's right up there with Kovalev and Stevenson in quality.

I just don't like his style vs kovolev.. Pascal does that awkward jump in and out stuff, but I think pascal will constantly be going backwards and won't have time to do his jumping in and out..

Both guys will gas after 6 or 7 rds..

Just because Steve Kim says something doesn't make ot true. The guy has sad tons of false stuff before.

Anyways, if Stevenson is available first Hopkins will obviously take that. More money plus Stevenson is the lineal champ. If there are complications however Hopkins will fight Kovalev.

Too bad, guess we got too excited for it.... guess he was trying to drive it up If it's in November they'll probably try to put it on the same date as Hopkins/Stevenson

Interesting fight. I see Pascal looking impressive in spots, but he doesn't have the defense to stay out of harms way against Kovalev, nor the gas tank necessary to keep up with him.
