Comments Thread For: Roach on Alvarez, Cotto-Canelo/Mayweather/Golovkin

Freddie Roach spoke with BoxingScene.com on July 25.

BoxingScene.com: What did you think of the bout between Canelo Alvarez and Erislandy Lara?

Roach: “I was in China. I didn’t get to see the fight. I heard it was a pretty close fight. I heard it could’ve went either way, but I didn’t get to see it. I had four fights in China last week.”

I think GGG is too risky for Cotto and not big enough of a name...but with that said, with Roach's last line all I can think of is "We'll see if he gets injured, we'll get him right when he comes off the injury. Or if he looks bad enough to exploit, we'll take on him. If he looks too good, we'll pass." Who is Roach kidding, he will advise Cotto to steer clear from GGG and for good reason. Bradley at 154 is beatable and willing to fight Cotto, probably sells more PPV's together too.

If Geale somehow edges GGG, I can see Roach telling Cotto to jump on him.

Smart move by canelo. Cotto's gonna be a handful but ginger can pull it off

Cotto should do the right thing and defend THEE middleweight championship against the number 2 middleweight in the world, GGG.

Cotto, Canelo, GGG... You Can't Go Wrong With Any Of Them Fighting The Other !

Canelo vs Cotto would be a war. Youth might come out on top there, but it would be refreshing to see two top warriors come out toe to toe and fight. No run and jab as in Lara & Floyd. It would be a war. Same if you put either against GGG, although I see Gennady just stronger and more relentless and see him stopping both late in the fight in a bloody mess. There are such quality fights to be made at '54 & '60.

GGG is out of cotto's league and a lot has to do with size! Stop asking for it. Let's see u fight someone twice ur size. Make cotto vs canelo..
