good prospects who never panned out

I don't know if this will qualify for this topic, but Joe Lipsey...

I remember watching him just flat out wreck fighters to a 25-0 record with something like 20 KO's. Then they put him in the ring with Hopkins...

Still one of the most vicious KO's that comes to memory. If I recall correctly, most felt it was to soon to fight Hopkins (I believe he was a champ at the time. Hopkins that is), Lipsey paid for it. Never fought again, if I'm not mistaken.

Over the years there were a lot of prospects looking like the future of boxing but never reached their potential. My list would be, Victor Ortiz, Chris arreola, Andy Lee, Alfredo angulo(love the guy but he could never get over the hump) Andre dirrell, Edison Miranda, and Joel Julio(everyone including me was hyping him as the next great welterweight at 21, but it just never happened)

You can't call the likes of Arreola, Dirrell and Miranda prospects who never panned out. Miranda was a guy with a punch and limited boxing ability, he did pretty damn well. Dirrell challenged for a title multiple times. Arreola did so too and just came up short.

Now, I'm pretty sure there were some people on this forum hyping all 3 guys but watching them, I couldn't imagine any of them being truly world class.

The one that really sticks out for me is Audley Harrison, Olympic gold medallist, big big heavyweight, southpaw, great punch and all the physical tools to be the next Lewis. Yet what let him down was terrible match making and an inability to take the mental edge. He is without a doubt the most disappointing prospect of my generation.

Yea But The Dinner table kick his A$$ his littler brother Angel was good too but the guy just stated gaining weight and lost it. I guess their Mom is a World Champ Cook

Tony Aayla but the guy couldn't behave I guess all those sparring matches with Pipino Cueavas must have damaged his brain the guy was 14 sparring a world champ

A lot of you guys are naming legit world class fighters that won titles and landed big fights, and were true contenders..

Guys that don't pan out are guys that get hyped coming up, but then don't ever deliver much..
A guy like Miranda was never really hyped, he just kinda exploded onto the scene much like a mayorga or baldomir... I don't consider guys like that to haven't panned out,,
