Toyko - Olympic middleweight gold medalist Ryota Murata of Japan will take on Adrian Luna, a Mexican middleweight champion, at the Yoyogi Daini Gymnasium on September 5. Teiken Promotions made the announcement today.
Murata, 28, is a poised, hard puncher. He has a professional record of 4-0, 4 KOs, Luna, 24, is 17-2-1 with 11 KOs. The bout is scheduled for 10 rounds in the middleweight division.
Murata won an Olympic gold medal at the 2012 London Games. He had an amateur record of 119-19. Murata's gold medal in boxing was the first for Japan since Takao Sakurai won in the bantamweight class in 1964.
