I don't know him or his father personally, but it sounds like his dad is living vicariously through his son. I think it was always his dream to become a boxer and he really pushed it on Omar. As far as careers go, the kid is doing very well. According to Dan Rafael, he made 250K in his last fight, not too shabby. I've seen this kid fight when he was very young. From under a thousand person capacity venues to a sold out alamodome and I just don't see the hype behind the guy. He's definitely talented enough to belong in professional boxing but I don't think hes at the level he's in now. He should be the guy fighting the showcased showtime fighter, not the showcased fighter.
