    Its a very delicate debate.

But if we take the exemples that we're displayed to us through the years, we can see that a past-his-prime, fat, François Botha had some decent success in his late-career atempt at K-1 in wich he beat two K-1 legends in LeBanner and Aerts and had some tough fights with other elite k-1 fighter like Bonjasky and Ray Sefo. He was only stopped once. While in boxing he was stopped and pretty brutally by almost every top 5 guy he faced.

So in a way, LeBanner did in K-1 what he never did in boxing - not only last the distance, but to beat a top 5 fighter.

Now you take Ray Sefo's run in boxing... that was pretty bad.

For your personal self, you should do what is more fun. I've done some stuff before that thought was cool but it just never connected with me, and you lose interest eventually.

If it's for effectiveness for self-defence, take kickboxing. Even better would be thai boxing! Basically take the options that gives you more tools than the other guys in the streets. Why punch, when you can punch and kick? And why punch and kick, when you can punch, kick, knee and elbow?

depends on the fighters but kickboxing is more affective in a street fight in my opinion but as a sport to watch i like boxing better.....

Bruce never had a pro fight of any kind be it boxing or mma. He was never paid a dime to fight in real life but he was paid lots of money to beat up all comers in the movies. Movies can make anyone look invincible. Lucie Lu looks invincible beating up dozens of strong men at the same time in the movies just like Bruce. If people want to believe that Bruce would destroy any pro boxer in a street fight that is what they are going to believe. But there is no real evidence that Bruce was this great street fighter. Many pro boxers were great street fighters before they ever put on a boxing glove. Roberto Duran said he won a few thousand street fights over getting the best street corner for selling newspapers as a boy making a living on the streets of Panama.

bruce competed in karate type matches. although thats far from ufc/mma type fighting, he still competed against others. so for u to say he has never competed in a real match is wrong. and kick boxing vs boxing in a real street fight, i'd say 8 out of 10 the kick boxer wins.

Botha's overall record in K-1 is 15 wins, 11 losses, and his win over Aerts was an injury stoppage.

Many former boxers tried their luck in K-1 but as far as I know none had really great success.

I would take boxing over K-1 any day, but Botha's limited success in K1 is hardly proof of boxing's superiority.

(Btw most great Thai boxers have a muay thai background, so there are many kickboxers who had some decent success in boxing. And of course there is Vitali and more recently, Algieri.)
