If by train you mean fool around on weekends then sure.

He trained daily. As a movie star he had a lot of free time so he could train all he wanted including in preparation for movies.

I'd be a lot more comfortable if all this god like praise came for Lebell, Helio, people who competed in Vale Tudo, Olympic grappling events etc etc and not some actor.

The old school Martial Artists get plenty of praise. Bruce Lee has been so visible for so long he just has a lot of popularity. Personally I think his influence on the Martial Arts is more important than his fighting skill but I think he's been underestimated as a fighter.

The UFC game already flopped. So much for Bruce Lee.

Yeah I heard it did well its first week and then sales declined.

That's unfortunate. I'll still get it though.

As a combat sports fan the Lee love just rubs me the wrong way.

I think it's unreasonable to worship him as some fighting God but assessing his fighting skills is an interesting discussion.

Btw, Lee said himself that Ali, who he looked up too, would handle him.

I think that was in reference to if they were to fight in a Boxing match.

You're right, traditional east asian martial arts suck in real life. But what does this have to do with Bruce Lee? Bruce was the first influential person to see this and to see limitations in all martial arts, hence "my style is to have no style" - nobody had even heard of anything like this before! This is 20 years before the UFC was put together to see which style was superior. Only many years after that, people realise now what Bruce had said 30 years prior "the best style is to have no style" - in other words, you need to learn EVERYTHING, and not just one particular form of fighting. He was a legendary visionary, and pertinently not a proponent of asian martial arts!

Royce Gracie defeated Art Jimmerson, a professional Boxer at UFC 1.

Is Boxing ineffective?

Traditional Martial Arts disciplines such as Kung Fu, Karate and Tae Kwon Do can be used effectively as a base in Mixed Martial Arts when they are complimented by cross-training in other disciplines. Fighters such as Cung Le and Lyoto Machida have TMA backgrounds but they also have a ground game and a takedown defense.

I don't know what happened with the Joe Rogan and Wesley Snipes fight.

I've never heard the story from either one just heard about it on the internet.

I have a lot of respect for Wesley Snipes, he is a great representative of the Martial Arts.
