Comments Thread For: Francisco Vargas Eyes Takashi Miura Showdown

NABF super featherweight champion, Francisco Vargas (20-0-1, 14KOs), arrived at the World Boxing Council offices in Mexico, and expressed his desire to fight for the absolute WBC title, currently held by Japanese boxer Takashi Miura. For Francisco, the most important goal is to become a strong contender for the title, and to reach that match with enough experience to win the championship.

After having participated in two Olympics, Francisco is emerging as a great prospect. He is coming off the biggest win of his career, a third round stoppage over two division champion Juan Manuel Lopez of Puerto Rico. [Click Here To Read More]

It's funny that anytime someone at SuperFeather calls out a champ it's Miura never fails yet no one dares even whisper Uchiyama considering the WBA is so quick to hand out belts except at 130 where they've basically had 1 champ for awhile now they can't even get many takers for an interim status knowing there might be a slight possibility they'd have to unify.

True, no top fighters seem to want any part of Uchiyama. Even Mikey Garcia will steer clear of him.

Bryan Vasquez is the interim... and he's shown himself to be quite crafty. I know his last fight, his opponent was unproven, but he did good in showing himself

I'd like to see Vargas vs. Miura and M. Garcia vs. Uchiyama, and then the winners against each other. I'd be rooting for Vargas and Uchiyama.

Another good fight would be Miura vs. Salido. I think that'd be a slugfest. I'd be going for Miura in that one.

There were talks that Miura/Salido will be in on Singapore show that TR has been planning if it does go down then likely someone will be going down should be good.

Are Miura/Uchiyama gym mates? I think they're not... they're letting this roast too long

No, Miura is with Teiken and Uchiyama is with Watanabe. I don't understand why they're putting off a unification. I'd be hyped for Uchiyama vs. Miura II, and it'd be huge in Japan. Miura did drop Uchiyama in the first fight before being retired, but maybe he feels like he just can't beat Uchiyama?

They're not,. I'm starting to think WBC might not be in favor of a unification they can't come up with enough elims for that belt.
