Comments Thread For: Geale approaches Golovkin with understated confidence

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - If you’re waiting for Daniel Geale to join the masses genuflecting at the rampaging feet of IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin these days, here’s a time-saving tip.

Don’t hold your breath. It’s just not happening.

But not because the laid-back, soft-spoken Australian is disrespectful of the unbeaten, dual-belted opponent he’ll encounter this Saturday night in the big room at Madison Square Garden. Instead, it’s simply because he believes that much in his own abilities.

“Yeah. I believe so,” he told me during a recent phone chat, when I asked directly if he was the best 160-pounder in the world. But he wasn’t content in simply saying it. In fact, he said, he’s itching for the chance to get to New York to demonstrate it to the rest of a predominantly doubtful world.

“I want to prove that as well. I've been saying back home in Australia that I want to fight the best fighters in the world, and at the moment Golovkin is regarded as the best middleweight in the world. That's the reason I'm fighting him.” [Click Here To Read More]

I have to go with Golovkin in 5 Geale likes to mix it up too much and by that time i expect he will be quite wore down by the precise blows of Golovkin, either way though i think it will honestly be an outstanding fight for as long as it last.

Geale is effective when he's coming forward I don't think he can outbox GGG on the back foot

Fitzsimmons's article after Golovkin stops Geale: Putting Golovkin's Latest Mismatch in Perspective

He'll proceed to type how power punchers are cavemen and everyone who likes them are fake boxing fans who jump on bandwagons for trendy power punchers. Next article will involve him jumping on the bandwagon of some "slick" fighter whose worse than Golovkin.

GGG by stoppage. I think he wipes the mat with Geale. Geale's understated confidence is going to get him looking at the lights!

Im going for geale on this, even though he might lose. He has gotten dropped before in previous fights. Would like to see how GGG takes punches in bunches.

If Darren Barker, with his rickety hip, could get of the floor to beat Geale, I can't see any way Geale beats Golovkin. I think GGG will stop him around the half way point.
