I am a 0% Floyd fan but i admire his skills. All the talks from floyd before the fight are to hype the hype the fight and everyone knows that. After the fight, he gives credit to his opponent. It seems Flloyd got onto Maidana Camp's head! Lately, im annoyed how Maidana acts. He really believe he won the first fight LOL! What a CLOWN! He talk "DISRESPECT" from Floyd, well in fact, he first disrespect floyd during the build-up of the first fight. What a "WHINER"!

To my understanding Maidana has never headlined his own PPV other than being Floyd's opponent. If he's so respected by "millions" across the globe, why isn't he headlining his own PPVs?

I may be missing the point completely here but...

What has PPV figures got to do with 'respect'?

Forgive me, but if people understood the actual definition of 'respect' then this would be a much easier debate.

'Respect' has many different cultural meanings, so it will have a different meaning to an Asian, African American, Hispanic or Caucasian person.

For Floyd 'respect' is entrenched in the African American 'Street definition' - that having money must demand respect. All his other BS is irrelevant, if Floyd was flat broke then he would not be 'demanding' respect.

For Maidana it is different, I would guess that there is more value on being honest and 'stand-up'. Hispanic people are fiercely proud, regardless of financial position.

I know that I am generalizing to a point, but it is fair to say that Floyd Mayweather is a good example of how many young black, American males define as successful - purely on his accumulated wealth and he how uses intimation and power to influence key stake-holders in the boxing business.

I am not making this a racial issue - but it is worth factoring in what 'respect' means to different types of people. It is like saying 'happiness' means the same thing to all people. It is much more complex than that.
