Official Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko Post Fight Discussion Thread

Good post. I expect Wlad to take the fight, that or vacate.

He won't vacate as that would be a huge pr blunder and would preclude the chance for him to win all the paper belts to get undisputed recognition.
In truth he doesn't have to fight Fury for quite awhile as the WBO is very lax in enforcing mandatories.

It's funny that when the bum Leapai became his WBO mandatory, he jumped immediately to make that fight and justified defending his title against such a weak opponent under the false pretense that "I have to fight this guy or I will be stripped" but when Fury became his mando his team is in no such fervent rush to make the fight.

They pulled out of negotiations for a Fury fight late last year over a disagreement with the fight purses and instead are taking on the smaller less skilled,featherfisted Bryant Jennings for less than what they could have made for fighting Fury.

Go figure!

Wlad is a "minimalist" boxer because he possesses minimal skills. The few things he does well he's honed to a good level at the cost of being entirely incompetent at everything else. Look at the level of most of the opposition he has been fighting for the past several years and the way he's gone about winning these fights. He jumps into clinches illegally holding his woeful opponents like a trained circus bear because he hasn't the boxing skills to shorten his punches up to fight on the inside. In these instances he is totally reliant on imposing his size and strength on opponents, not applying boxing skills. How will he be able to stall out Fury in clinches when for a change he is the smaller and weaker man and for once the opponent has the skills to fight well at close quarters?

He has serious problems finding the target against even basic movement.
He could hardly land on Haye even when he was standing right in front of him.
How will he cope with an opponent who has far better lateral movement than himself?

We all know Wlad has a poor chin. In his last fight he was rocked to his boots from a weak jab from featherfisted Pulev. He had to hold on for dear life to get his head clear. How will he deal with a solid punching big HW who can actually put punches together?

Klitschko has questionable stamina as he has gassed out in fights before and his workrate is low. How will he deal with an opponent who has a great gastank to fight at a high pace for the full 12 rounds?

I just hope when it's time the Klitschko team will be willing to have these questions answered in the ring one way or the other but I have my doubts.

Yup. Hopefully him and his team change their mind and get on board with the fight. It would be nice if the WBO grew a pair and submitted him with a deadline to defend against Fury or be stripped of their title like what the WBC did to Rid**** Bowe against Lewis. Baffles me that anyone can take this question seriously. Only blind nationalism can give Tyson a chance here. I even like Tyson. He's gone from being a lumbering giant to having developed some reasonable discipline and growing skill. I'd love to see him do well. By all means, give him the fight. There aren't a lot of guys who deserve it more. But, let's not start pretending this is a competetive matchup.
